UPCOMING PROJECTS

THE FOOL’S JOURNEY

Airdrie’s Inspire Performance

Triangle Systems Collective have been selected by the City of Airdrie to present The Fool’s Journey as the inaugural artistic presentation at the Community Celebration to mark the opening of Airdrie’s Inspire Multi-Use Facility and Library on October 4, 2025. The Fool’s Journey will comprise 3, 15 minute original pieces with each piece featuring four dance artists. The Social Staircase, a highlight within this facility, will be featured as the stage.

The Fool is the initiating card of the Tarot Deck’s Major Arcana which consists of twenty-two cards that depict the trials and tribulations an individual encounters as they move through seasons of their life. The Major Arcana acts as a reminder to focus on presence in the ebb and flow of life’s lessons and to step forward with belief, even when the future is uncertain. While we may observe our own healing within The Fool, we are also reminded everyone we come across is The Fool of their own journey.

Our presentation of The Fool’s Journey will highlight The Fool’s exploration through three Major Arcana cards, The Devil, The Tower, and The Star choreographed by Kelsie Vanstone, Nicole Hopkins, and Michelle Godin respectively. The Rider-Waite Tarot depicts a young man as The Fool embarking on his lesson-riddled experience. In our exploration, Kelsie Vanstone will dance the principal role of The Fool. As a collective, we aim to expand the concept of The Fool to incorporate a feminine viewpoint of struggle, agency, and ultimately belief in self.

Our project is grounded in an ethical framework that prioritizes artist well-being, respectful collaboration, and responsible exploration of personal narratives. During the research stage, Kelsie Vanstone’s personal explorations will serve as a catalyst for collaborative discovery with Nicole Hopkins and Michelle Godin. Ensemble artists will receive constructive feedback focused on their dynamic interactions with The Fool and their spatial relationships within the Social Staircase. This feedback will emphasize how their movements and expressions contribute to the overall narrative and thematic resonance of the performance.

Triangle systems is looking to hire 4 professional contemporary artists;

3 Ensemble + 1 Understudy

  • Ensemble artists will be featured in all three pieces and will emphasize the specific qualities of each card as they are experienced by The Fool.

  • The understudy artist will learn the role of The Fool. This dancer will only perform if the main lead is unable.

We are looking forward to expanding The Fool’s Journey beyond October 4, 2025, performance in Airdrie. Depending on grant awards there may be further opportunities that stem from this initial casting.
